Trithor Specification

TRITHOR Termite Protection is fully approved for use in Australia under the guidelines of the Building Code of Australia (BCA).
This is confirmed by its Codemark Certification, issued through the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB).

With Codemark, Building Certifiers and Local Government Authorities must approve the use of TRITHOR Termite Protection for the termite protection of buildings in accord with the BCA.

WHOLE OF PROPERTY PROTECTION

The building must be protected in accord with the requirements of the Australian Standard AS 3660 Termite management, Part 1 New building work (AS 3660.1).
All critical areas of termite entry including the external building perimeter, construction joints and slab penetrations shall be protected by a termite management system such as TRITHOR™ Termite Protection; or a Codemark approved, similar chemical barrier in a non-soil matrix system that meets the requirements of the Building Code of Australia (BCA); installed in conjunction with a concrete slab built to AS2870. The System must contain the synthetic pyrethroid deltamethrin at a concentration no greater than 1g per square metre. The System installation is to conform to the System manufacturer’s installation guidelines who shall provide evidence of compliance with the Building Code of Australia (BCA). A minimum Manufacturers’ Warranty of fifty (50) years for the building shall be provided, renewable on a year by year basis, by annual inspection, by the System installation organisation. The warranty shall provide termite damage replacement should a System breach occur. A Durable Notice is accord with the specifications of Clause A1 of AS 3660.1 shall be provided and fixed as per BCA requirements. The Durable Notice shall be permanently fixed to the building in a prominent location such as a meter box plus, a kitchen cupboard, or similar, with the following advice provided:

  • The method of protection e.g. TRITHOR Termite Protection.
  • Date of installation.
  • The life expectancy of the System, minimum of fifty (50) years.
  • The installer’s or manufacturer’s recommendations for the scope and frequency of future inspections for termite activity – at least once every 12 months.
AUSTRALIAN STANDARD

To be installed in compliance with AS 3660.1.

INSPECTIONS

Give sufficient notice so that inspections may be made of the completed Termite Management System.

MATERIALS AND COMPONENTS

Proprietary item: TRITHOR Termite Protection 
200g per square metre fibre blanket with a loading of 1g per square metre of deltamethrin, sandwiched between a 200µ LDPE plastic membrane, colour blue; and a 50µ LDPE plastic membrane, colour yellow.

COMPLETION

Certification in accord with AS3660.1 to be provided after System installation has been completed, i.e. a Certificate of Compliance, a Site Installation Report, Warranty Documentation and a Termite Information Sheet.

WARRANTY

A written fifty (50) year, whole of structure, Termite Damage Warranty must apply.
